DCS Digital Citizenship
In our ever-evolving digital landscape, teaching our young learners about responsible online behavior is a shared responsibility. At EBH and the entire district, we are committed to fostering positive digital citizenship habits in our students, and we invite you to join us on this important journey.
What is Digital Citizenship? Digital citizenship refers to the responsible, ethical, and safe use of technology. It encompasses a range of skills, from understanding online etiquette to protecting personal information and navigating the digital world with awareness and respect.
Our Approach: At EBH, we integrate digital citizenship education into our curriculum to empower students to make informed decisions online. We focus on topics such as online safety, respectful communication, digital footprints, and critical thinking when engaging with digital content.
How You Can Help:
-
Open Communication: Talk to your child about their online experiences. Encourage them to share any concerns or questions they may have.
-
Set Boundaries: Establish guidelines for screen time and appropriate online activities. Help your child understand the importance of balance between online and offline activities.
-
Model Positive Behavior: Children learn by example. Demonstrate responsible online behavior by modeling respectful communication and responsible use of technology.
Stay Informed: Keep yourself informed about the apps, games, and websites your child is using. Stay engaged in their digital world to better guide and support them.
Resources: Explore resources on our website, attend parent workshops, and utilize tools designed to help you navigate the digital landscape with your child. We particularly like Common Sense Media. We use their Digital Citizenship curriculum as a resource. They also have a wealth of helpful information for parents and families. See the link below. We also have some helpful information for parents regarding technology we use in Dansville: Parent Online Resources
Together, we can instill the values of good digital citizenship and ensure a positive and safe online experience for all. If you have other resources you think we should share, let us know!
Thank you for partnering with us in promoting responsible digital citizenship.
